Adoption Success!
I don’t think any of us will ever forget the haunting picture of Sierra trapped in the abandoned car with the dog on a chain in the background. We are so thankful for all the good people along the way who helped make this happy ending possible. From the food delivery driver who saw Sierra and took action to help her, to her awesome foster moms, Amber and Jennifer, to the family who chose to adopt this special pup and give her the loving home she deserves.
When Christin and Rick applied for Sierra, we were all excited. Even in the pandemic, Pitties – especially those over two years old – don’t have a long line of adopters waiting to meet them. Our team loved this family from the start, and we knew this was the perfect home for Sierra. Christin and Rick are seasoned dog owners who are both retired and love to hike. They live in a quiet neighborhood and have another social Pittie, Dex, who they adore. Sierra now has the full and active life she was meant to have. She enjoys daily hikes on the local trails, taking trips to the neighboring farm where Christin takes care of her horse, and playtime with her new best friend, Dex. She’s also about to discover fun weekend trips to the family beach house, which we know she’s going to love…who wouldn’t!?
Christin checked in to share this update:
“Sierra (now Georgi) is wonderful and intelligent. So responsive to loving correction and is learning to play nicely with Dexter. She has been super affectionate with me and even is really sweet with Rick too. She is smart as a whip and so sweet. She and Dex were overexcited to meet at first, but they are doing great together. We just got back from a walk. She will correct him (which is what he needs) but is never nasty or over-aggressive. They love playing together, and we are so happy that she is making him more active. We felt he was becoming a little too sedentary. We are absolutely thrilled and can immediately see how well she will do with loving, firm consistency!
We have a Furbo camera, and it lets me know when she is barking. I had to run to the barn, and she barked a few times. After about an hour, I didn’t hear any more and thought, ‘Uh oh. I hope she’s not chewing her crate mat.’ Well, when I got home, she and Dex greeted me at the door. Somehow the bottom crate latch had come undone (not sure if I accidentally didn’t put it in all the way or if she’s just that good), but she was out and did absolutely nothing. The dogs were not excited, and nothing was touched. It makes me hopeful that soon she will be able to be loose in the house.
I saved the pic of her in the car even though it breaks my heart. I feel it’s important to remember her horrific experience. We are so blessed and lucky to have this little girl!! She has done a world of good for us…So much happiness!”
Sierra hit the jackpot, and we couldn’t be happier for her or her new family.
