Adoption Update

We are so excited to share that our super sweet black bully girl, Sasha, has found her forever home.

Sasha once had a loving family, but when her family was killed in a house fire, she was taken in by a rural rescue with the 2 other small dogs from her home. The other dogs were quickly adopted, but as a black Pit Bull mix, Sasha was overlooked by adopters time and time again. This poor girl became a casualty of the system and spent 3 very long years living in an outdoor kennel… way too long for a social pup like Sasha.

When we heard her story, we wanted so much to help. Thankfully, two amazing people, Tania and Maihan, who were first time fosters, stepped up for Sasha. They knew it might be a long commitment, but they went above and beyond to help her over the last 10 months, providing the loving home, stability and training she needed to transition to a new life.

Because she’s a middle-aged, black, bully mix, Sasha already had the odds stacked against her. Older dogs, black dogs, and “Pits” or Pit-mix pups are, on their own, the least likely to be adopted, and then factoring in that Sasha had some leash reactivity issues, she was going to need someone very special to see her potential. We are so grateful that adopters like Meghann and Shawn exist. They wanted to help an older dog who had been passed over by other adopters. They had lost their Pit mix who also had dog/leash reactivity issues, and were ready to take in a dog who needed a little more work. They chose Sasha!

Sasha has settled in nicely to her new home. She’s already been on a road trip with her new family, and did great visiting Shawn’s family in WV. She loved romping in the yard and being a dedicated kitchen helper to her new grandma.

We are so very thankful to these two amazing couples who opened their hearts and minds to saving a dog who, if not for them, didn’t stand much of a chance.
